Mechanical Vacuum Erection Devices

Vacuum Erection Devices Details:
  • Used in male erectile dysfunction.
  • Consist of a rigid cylinder which is placed over the penis.
  • The air is sucked out of the cylinder by a hand pump or electrical pump.
  • The resulting negative pressure around the penis increases penile corporeal blood flow.
  • The produced erection is maintained by using a constriction ring around the base of the penis which reduces corporeal venous drainage.
Clinical Efficacy:
  • Long-term success in ~60% of patients.[1]
